The Backstory

Quick context if we haven't crossed paths before: I'm Parker, and I run Evana.

Evana finds import duty and tariff refunds for consumer brands. These are literal checks from the U.S. government, money your brand has already paid in import duties that you're legally entitled to get back. Most brands don't know this money exists. Almost none of them are collecting it. That's the problem we solve.

Now, the story.

I started Evana with one obsession: brands are leaving real money on the table, and nobody was doing anything about it.

Not because the opportunity wasn't there. Because the technology didn't exist to make it worth anyone's time.

Behind The Scenes: Building Tech Company to Unlock Tariff Refunds for Your Brand

A year ago, I started digging into the world of import duties and tariffs. Specifically, something called duty drawback, which is a government program that lets companies recover duties they've already paid on imported goods. It's been around for decades. The money is real. The refunds come in the form of actual checks from the government.

And almost nobody in the modern brand world was getting them.

Here's why. The legacy customs brokers who traditionally handled these claims only took on clients with refund potential of $500,000 or more. That sounds like a reasonable business threshold until you realize that the vast majority of eligible claims are smaller than that. Most brands never even know they qualify.

The brokers weren't being greedy. They just didn't have the technology to make smaller claims efficient enough to be worth their time. So they turned those brands away, or more often, never even surfaced the opportunity in the first place.

That's the gap I went after.

Over the past year, we've built a platform that does something no one in this space has done before. Evana runs on autopilot in the background, scanning a brand's supply chain data to identify every import duty and tariff refund opportunity they're eligible for, regardless of size.

We now serve 100+ brands. Some of them are names you'd recognize.

Fresh Clean Threads. SandCloud. Big Blanket. Companies that are doing serious volume, building serious brand equity, and deserve to have every dollar of their money working for them.

But what I'm actually most proud of is what we've been able to do for brands that are earlier in their journey.

The same week we unlocked roughly $150,000 for a well-known brand, we also unlocked a $10,000 refund for a baby goods company that had no idea this money was sitting there waiting for them. And the week before that, we unlocked $11.6 million for one of North America's largest sporting goods companies.

Three very different brands. Three very different check sizes. One platform handling all of it.

That range is not an accident. It's the whole point.

This is one of my best friends in the world, Robbie Page of Tenzo and standing next to him is my co-founder Michael and CTO here at Evana. Michael hand delivered a giant foam check to share this massive refund we found for Robby and his company

So here's where I'm at now.

We've spent a year building the platform, proving the product, and serving our first cohort of brands. Almost all of them found us through word of mouth and referrals. Which is honestly a good sign. It means the work speaks for itself.

But now I want to take a different approach. Instead of waiting for the next introduction, I want to go directly to the brands we can actually help.

That means you.

I don't have a pitch deck to send you. What I have is a genuine question.

When you think about your import costs, do you think your broker is actively working to claw that money back? Most of the brands we've talked to assume the answer is yes. And almost universally, when we look under the hood, the answer is no. Not because their broker is doing anything wrong. Because recovering these refunds efficiently at scale requires technology that most brokers simply don't have.

If you've ever wondered whether money is slipping through the cracks in your supply chain, I'd love to hear from you. Even if you're not sure, that's exactly the conversation worth having.

Hit reply and tell me what you think. Does this resonate? Are you already thinking about this? Have you looked into it before?

I read every response, and right now, I'm more interested in your honest take than in signing you up for anything.

More to come.
